In the middle of 2008, when seemingly everything was crashing, I started a company. It was an auto glass repair and replacement business. Against all odds, this turned into a great success. Over ten years I recruited a small team of 4 talented individuals and together we built the business to a nationwide company with over 50 employees and $12M in annual revenue. True, it’s not Pepsi or Ford Motors huge, but in the auto glass world, that’s a VERY large company.

After selling that business and taking some time off, in 2023, I started a lift and dock company. It turned out that the advertising methods we used at the auto glass shop were lights out techniques for our lift and dock shop. First year sales were $300,000, second year $1.4M, and we will end our current year over $2.5M in sales. Ok, so while that’s a decent sized business, it’s not huge. Maybe you’re doing more in sales currently, which is ok. The point is that the growth happened in a period of 3 years in an area that has 15 other Lift and Dock businesses within 30 miles of our location!
